synopsis:

Alvie Knightly is back . . . and she’s hungover.

When Alvie discovers that her hit man boyfriend has driven off with the Lamborghini and two million euros, she does what any heartbroken, deserted, amateur assassin would do – she drinks everything in the mini-bar and trashes her hotel room. And then she gets to work.

A perilous cat-and-mouse game takes the pair across Rome, leaving a trail of collateral damage in their wake. But as she wholeheartedly embraces her dark side Alvie will have to figure out if Nino is her nemesis . . . or the only man bad enough to handle her.

My review:

When I’m listening to audiobooks, I look for a few things – a story that is fast paced, engaging and fun, and a narrator that isn’t ANNOYING! Bad, the second book from the Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know Trilogy on audiobook fit the bill – it’s a fun summer read (well, it may feel like summer in England right now but this weather may not last long, so had to make the most of it…)

The narrator, Emily Atack (who played Charlotte in the Inbetweeners, not that you’d know unless you looked it up…) does a great job of reading this novel in a really engaging way. Chloe Esposito’s novels are always high octane, fast-paced and a lot of fun, and this audiobook followed this style beautifully.

As with the first in the series, Mad, you need to strap in for a whirlwind ride with this novel. The protagonist (if we can call her a protagonist – she is a pretty awful person!) Alvie has comitted all sorts of atrocities whilst visiting her twin sister in Italy, and now she’s dealing with the consequences in true Alvie fashion. She’s insulting, rude, and awful to almost everyone – and I loved reading about her! It’s refreshing to read about a character who is unashamedly awful, and Alvie fits the bill so well.

I don’t want to give too much away but this is a really fun read that had me truly entertained. You know it’s all ridiculous but that’s part of the fun!

Rating: 4/5
